Twitter Mocks Minskoff’s 51 Astor Place

A new Twitter handle mocking the absence of tenants at 51 Astor Place has popped up under hashtag @51deathstar.

“Destroyer of neighborhoods. Unloved. Empty inside. Midtown South,” reads the satirical description on the page, which has racked up 51 followers so far.

The person or persons behind the handle poke fun at Edward Minskoff’s so-called “spec tower,” which means he built it without any tenants signed on.

“I’m so depressed… Been thinking about demolishing myself,” read one tweet on the page earlier this month.

DelShah in Contract for 100-102 Christopher St.

DelShah Capital is under contract to acquire 100-102 Christopher Street in the West Village for $27 million, The New York Post reported.

DelShah Capital will acquire the six-story building from Jeffrey Kaye and Robert Morgenstern of Stone Street Properties. The 37-unit property, dubbed The Charlotte in Stone Street’s rental portfolio, currently offers a two-bedroom apartment available to rent for $5,250 per month, according to the landlord’s website. The building also features three retail units, which are currently occupied by Rag & Bone.

Battle for Greenpoint Waterfront Heats Up

Eight years after a rezoning paved the way for the Williamsburg waterfront's transformation into Miami Beach, residents and politicians in neighboring Greenpoint are speaking up about their own shoreline.

District councilman hopeful Stephen Pierson vowed that he will go to court to reduce the size of planned 40-story towers to 15 or 20 stories. And other opponents of the waterfront redefinition have released renderings of hulking high-rises that dwarf the Manhattan skyline across the river.
